This one was a little different, I ditched the Fiance and grabbed one of my fave gal pals Ellie and took her on her very first Canopy adventure. I may be biast but Canopy stays are my absolute favourite things in the entire world, and to date they just keep getting better!!
Washpen Falls is conveniently located just over an hour away from Christchurch in Windwhistle. Situated in a dreamy little spot, complete with its own wee pond this is so perfect even if its just one night away from the kids. We considered going for a dip, but I probably wouldn’t recommend going for a swim as it looked a little green - however the tub is definitely a great option!
So whats the set up like?
The accommodation is a fully-self contained traditional English Shepherd's Hut. There is an ensuite bathroom and kitchen inside the hut and an outdoor kitchen space for summer cooking and dining. A deep and luxurious wood-fired hot tub is nestled to the front of the Shepherd's Hut on the banks of the pond - can confirm it is very dreamy especially with a cider in hand!
About the area?
Washpen Falls is well known for its adventure and views, the hut is located close by to the ever so popular walking track, which takes you to great heights with beautiful views across the plains. You then also end up at a stunning waterfall which is great to take a quick dip in during the hot summer days.
Overall thoughts?
Ellie and I loved our stay here, we had a cute wee local visitor ever so often pop their face in to say hi (friendly sheep) , a beautiful sunrise and everything was there that you could possibly need. This was so much fun even just for a night away with one of the girls, the setting is so serene and peaceful making it a definite must visit. Side note Make use of the bug spray as those little buggers are a bit of a pain lol!
Last bit of advice? If you take the boat for a row, just make sure your doing it correctly because we absolutely butchered our attempt but it made for a great laugh lol!! A birdy told me they are also looking to possibly upgrade the boat so that will be awesome for future guests!!
