Time to bring the blogs back...

It’s been a little while since I last wrote on here, but I’ve been missing this space, and it feels like the right time to bring the blog back 🤍
The online beauty world can be overwhelming. Between TikTok trends, endless product recommendations and conflicting advice from what seems like a million different people , it’s easy to feel confused about what your skin needs or where to begin with your makeup routine. Sometimes, the more you watch, the less sure you feel!
After 17 years as a makeup artist, helping people feel confident with beauty is still one of my favourite parts of what I do. I want this space to be somewhere you can slow down, learn something useful and find advice that makes your routine feel a little easier.
I’ll be sharing practical tips, answering your beauty questions and talking about the things I’m most passionate about, alongside exciting new products, releases and little snippets of life - actually a lot of life because we have a new family member joining us soon all the way from Greece and there's a lot to share on that front haha!!
Some things deserve more than a quick video, and here you can read at your own pace, revisit a tip whenever you need it and find the details all in one place.
It feels lovely to be back. I hope you’ll enjoy being here as much as I’ll enjoy sharing with you. So let's get into it!!
This time of year always brings so many fun new collections and launches, so there’s plenty I’m excited to share with you! One of those is the arrival of MERIT Beauty at Sephora NZ, which I’m especially excited about.
Hourglass has also just launched its much anticipated Ambient Lighting palettes. I purchase these every year, and this year I can happily say they’re still worth every cent, especially for fellow makeup artists and our kits.
I’ll go into more detail in a separate post, sharing a closer look at this year’s palettes and why I love them, but it's a great time of year to be a beauty lover, however not so much a great time to be my wallet! In sad beauty news though Dior have discontinued a very very well loved foundation - Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation.
Why they’ve done this, I have no idea, but it’s certainly caused a stir in our industry. Dior Backstage has been such a reliable staple in so many makeup artists’ kits, including mine.
As soon as I found out, I went straight into stock up mode! Thankfully, some lovely friends and clients are still travelling overseas, so I’ve been sending them money to secure whatever Dior Backstage goodies they can get their hands on for me. The lengths we go to for our kit favourites, haha!
But honestly, I’m so sad to see it go. As artists, finding a foundation that doesn’t need endless mixing or adjusting is no easy task. This one is beautiful on brides, photographs so well and has a fantastic shade range. Add in the practical, travel friendly packaging and great value for money, and it’s a hard product to replace.
Finding something that ticks the same boxes is going to be an interesting mission, so stay tuned. I’ll share what I discover along the way!
