One of the newest sites with all the bells and whistles, Rockwood Station is a luxe home away from home. Although it is still off the grid, you are treated to not only a flushing toilet, full power and kitchen facilities but also an indoor spa bath!
Rockwood Station is located just over an hour from Christchurch in a small area called Windwhistle. The station would have to be one of my fave sites from Canopy Camping, it's just that little bit different from the others we have been to so far and is dreamy in every single way!
Rockwood is surrounded by lots of things to do, with walks on the property and the beautiful Washpen Falls just down the road it's in such a great location you would never get bored. The Summer house consists of a large single room with kitchen, bedroom and lounging all sharing the same space. Large glass sliding doors open out from the sitting area onto a surrounding deck, which is a beautiful place to just be still and listen to nature sing around you.
In the Summertime you can freshen off in the river and the swimming holes that run along the side of the property. Then in the cooler months you can sit around the beautiful outdoor fires and roast marshmallows or even cook wood fired pizzas, theres just so many things you can do to ensure your time at Rockwood is magical.
Again the owners are amazing, they will talk through the history of the property with you and answer any questions you may have, then leave you to it! Although their cute kitty likes to stay over sometimes, she cuddled up with us all night so if your a cat lover your in luck haha!
Rockwood Station truly is a dream, we had such a romantic time off the grid and really enjoyed that little bit more luxe feel especially since we went in the winter time.
